I am also available for assistance over the phone to help walk you through the process. E-mail can also be forwarded to another e-mail address you already use.

Step Two: Purchase Space Through a Hosting Service

	A hosting service is like the real estate agent that sells you property to build your house on. Except in the web hosting world, the property is technically leased to you, but you can build pretty much whatever you want on it, and it's easy to move your house if you need to.
	There are a variety of hosting services, from free upwards of $300. Free web space usually comes with a catch, such as a banner add. Also, download times may be slower, which translates to people not staying at your site once they get there, and not coming back to your site.
	Multiple domain names can be pointed to the same site, or a directory on your site, called a "redirect", for free. The address that appears in the browser when you use a redirect is not your domain name. For an additional fee, redirected domain names can be set up to appear in the browser.
	Hosting usually comes in a yearly contract.
	The ideal hosting service should come with telephone customer support, an online control panel accessible by username and password, statistic reporting, e-mail addresses, FrontPage extensions, and at least 100 MB of space.
	If you already have web space through a hosting service, and intend on having me publish your site, I will need your username and password. It is possible for me to design a site and send you the files, which you upload yourself using an FTP program such as CoffeeCup.

There are plenty of hosting services online for you to purchase web space from. But if you prefer to avoid the hassle, then I can do it for you for a reasonable fee. The space belongs to you (think of me as your real estate agent), and access information will be forwarded to you via e-mail.

Step Three: Design and Publish Your Site

	Now the fun part. Consider me as the architect, construction crew, interior decorator and building inspector. You are the home owner.
	First we will need to design a blueprint. You will need to decide a general layout for your home. The front door is the "index" or "home" page. From that you enter a large room, the foyer if you will. From here you need to decide how many rooms you want, and how to get to each room. Then within each room there might be cabinets, closets, or entrances to other places on your property. What is amazing about this house is that you can actually teleport from one room clear across the house directly into the kitchen. You should have an idea of the purpose of each room, such as whether it is a kitchen, bedroom, or bathroom. Then we'll know whether they needs sinks, fireplaces, or toilets. It also helps to have an idea about what furniture and appliances are going into each room (in other words, the content of each page). As the architect, I can show you some models and suggest ideas for easier navigation through your home.
	After the foundation is laid and the frame is established, we need to start decorating. There are two elements to consider- the functional items such as furniture and appliances (content), and aesthetic items such as paints and decor (color schemes and graphic themes).
	Here's another one of those funny things about web site design. The home we just built is like a modular home. It was built and completely furnished at another location, and now needs to be moved to your leased property. This is called "publishing" or "uploading to the FTP manager". Usually, despite all of the best intentions, this is the part where things go wrong. It's like while on the way across town, the moving crew breaks a window or loses the portrait hanging in the living room.
	Finally, the building inspector comes out to make sure everything works. I open every window, door, teleport, turn on the lights, flush the toilet and sit down at the couch to read the magazine you've laid out on the table. Then I fix any problems and return every so often to make sure everything is still working. I might even suggest that you display some different reading material.

Now, if I haven't lost you, it should please you to know that this process usually takes only 2-3 days to complete. The hardest part is deciding the "interior design", especially the content part. That is why I offer "Content Creation" services separate from the site design. Along with this is "Meta Tag Creation", which is pretty much like doorplate labels with Braille on them so that "blind" search engines can find their way around your home and even give tours to visitors.

I can arrange for e-mail to be forwarded to another e-mail address you already use.

You retain copyright ownership of all qualifying materials on your site. One-Eyed Dog Enterprises retains copyright permission for the sole purpose of displaying the link to your site in my Work Portfolio online and in print.

Certain elements of design within a web site are not included in the copyright ownership, such as standard themes and layouts.

"Qualifying Materials" includes such items as your domain name, pictures, logos, and text.

Step Four: Let People Know You Have a Site

There are several ways to get the word out there that your web site exists.

Search Engine Submission

There are two types of Search Engine Submissions- FREE and NOT FREE.

	Typically, your most popular search engines cost money to submit your URL.
	There are plenty of search engines that are free to submit to.

It is recommended that you submit your URL once a month only, as repetitive submissions are viewed as Spamming.

Make sure your META-tags are optimized for search engines.

You can submit your URL to search engines online easily. Or, I can do it for you for a small fee.

Note: I will resubmit your site every 30 days for 6 months for this fee and send you an e-mail with your ranking status for your top five keywords each month.

Swap Links with Relevant Sites

Search the internet for sites relevant to yours, and contact them requesting to swap links. While search engines are catching on to this tactic, meaning that this strategy probably won't help boost your ranking with them directly, it has the potential of increasing traffic flow, which will eventually improve your rankings.

Step Five: Update Your Site Often

	Frequent updates are extremely important. Nothing turns customers off quicker than going to an outdated site. It is a poor reflection on your professional image.
	Web Site Design through One-Eyed Dog Enterprises includes a free update of your entire site once a month for one year. Expect an e-mail around the fifteenth requesting any updates you would like to make. This e-mail will also include statistics about your site and how often it is visited.
	Every page should show the date it was last updated. Also, consider rotating pictures and adding a promotion every so often.

Already have a site up and running that needs updating, or perhaps even a complete overhaul? I can help with that. All I will need is the URL to your hosting control manager, along with your username and password. I can also set up e-mail accounts and optimize META tags.
